iGaming Glossary / Punto Banco
What is Punto Banco?
The most common form of baccarat, where the house banks every hand.
Punto Banco is the version of baccarat you will meet at nearly every casino. The two sides are called Punto, meaning player, and Banco, meaning banker. The house banks every hand and the rules for drawing a third card are fixed, so neither side makes choices once the bets are down.
Because the moves are automatic, your only real decision is which bet to back: player, banker, or a tie. The banker bet carries the lowest house edge, even after the small commission most tables charge on banker wins.
This is a calm, simple game with no strategy beyond bet selection, which is part of its appeal. If you want the full rundown of hand values and odds, see our baccarat guide.
