iGaming Glossary / Jackpot
What is Jackpot?
A large top prize. It can be fixed, must-drop or progressive.
A jackpot is the big top prize a game can pay, sitting well above the normal wins on the paytable. It is the headline reward that draws many players to a slot or feature.
Jackpots come in a few shapes. A fixed jackpot is always the same amount. A progressive jackpot grows as players across many games feed it, sometimes reaching huge sums. A must drop jackpot is set to pay out before it passes a certain value or time.
Your odds of hitting one are usually long, and chasing it can burn through a bankroll fast, so treat the jackpot as a bonus rather than a plan. To understand how the growing kind works, read our progressive jackpot guide.
