iGaming Glossary / RGS (Remote Game Server)

What is RGS (Remote Game Server)?

The backend that runs a game's logic and serves it to many casinos.

An RGS, or Remote Game Server, is the engine that actually runs a game behind the scenes. It handles the rules, works out each result, and delivers the outcome to your screen. The casino lobby you see is really a window onto games running on these servers.

Because one RGS can feed the same game to many casinos at once, a single popular slot can appear across dozens of sites while sharing the same core logic. This setup also makes it easier to update games and connect shared features like jackpots.

Players rarely interact with the RGS directly, but it matters for fairness and stability. A solid server keeps results consistent and feeds the random number generator that decides each spin.
