iGaming Glossary / Bonus Funds

What is Bonus Funds?

Money credited by a promotion that carries wagering rules. It is held separately from your withdrawable cash.

Bonus funds are the credit a casino gives you through a promotion, such as a deposit match or a reward. Unlike your own deposit, this money is not yours to withdraw straight away; it comes with strings attached.

The main string is the wagering requirement, which is the number of times you must bet the bonus before any winnings turn into real, withdrawable cash. Bonus funds are usually kept in a separate balance, and many sites play through your real money first. Other limits, like a maximum bet while wagering, often apply too.
