iGaming Glossary / Stake

What is Stake?

The amount of money wagered on a single bet or spin.

Your stake is simply the amount you put on the line for one bet, spin or hand. If you spin a slot at 1 euro, your stake is 1 euro. The word is also used as the name of a popular crypto casino, but here we mean the bet size.

Stake matters because it drives almost everything else. It sets how fast your bankroll goes up or down, and it links to features like the max bet rule on bonuses, where betting too high can void your winnings.

A sensible approach is to pick a stake that lets you play many rounds rather than a few large ones. Smaller stakes spread your money further and give a game's return-to-player more time to show. See RTP explained for why session length matters.
