iGaming Glossary / Max Win

What is Max Win?

The most a slot or bonus can pay, often shown as a multiple of the stake, for example 5,000x. Also called a win cap.

Max win is the highest amount a single game or bonus can pay out. On slots it is usually shown as a multiple of your stake, such as 5,000x or 50,000x, so a higher figure means a bigger possible top prize. Once you hit the cap, the game stops adding to your win even if more is technically possible.

This number matters most on high-volatility slots, where the whole appeal is the chance of one huge hit. Two games can share the same return to player but feel very different if one caps at 1,000x and the other at 50,000x.

Bonuses often have their own separate win cap, especially no-deposit offers, which limits how much of your winnings you can actually keep. Always check both numbers. See our slot volatility guide for how this links to risk.
