What is Provably Fair?

A cryptographic method, common at crypto casinos, that lets a player verify a result was not altered.

Provably fair is a system that lets you check a game result for yourself rather than simply trusting the casino. Before a round, the site commits to a hidden value. After the round, it reveals that value so you can run the numbers and confirm the outcome was set in advance and not changed.

It is most common at crypto casinos, where players often want proof without relying on a traditional regulator. The maths uses cryptographic hashing, but most sites provide a simple verify button so you do not need to do it by hand.

Provably fair confirms a single result was honest. It does not prove the odds are generous or that the operator is licensed and pays out, so it is one signal among several. Our crypto gambling guide explains where it fits in.
