iGaming Glossary / NGR (Net Gaming Revenue)
What is NGR (Net Gaming Revenue)?
Gross gaming revenue after bonuses, fees and certain costs are taken out.
NGR, or net gaming revenue, is a measure of what a casino actually keeps. You start with gross gaming revenue, the total players lose, then subtract things like bonus costs, payment fees and certain taxes or licensing charges. What remains is the net figure.
This number matters most to the people running and marketing a casino rather than to everyday players. Affiliates are often paid a share of NGR, so the more profit a player generates after costs, the more the affiliate earns from that referral.
Because the deductions can differ from one deal to another, two operators may calculate NGR in slightly different ways. If you are looking at the business side, read it carefully. Our how to start an online casino guide covers these terms.
