iGaming Glossary / Tournament
What is Tournament?
A promotion where players compete on a leaderboard over a period for a prize pool.
A casino tournament is a contest where players race each other on a leaderboard over a set time, anything from an hour to a whole month. You earn points by playing qualifying games, and the players at the top of the board share a prize pool when the clock runs out.
Scoring rules vary. Some tournaments rank you by total amount wagered, others by your biggest single win or your best win compared to your stake. The fairest ones reward results rather than just how much money you pour in, so the rules are worth checking first.
Prizes can be cash, free spins or other rewards. Tournaments add a social, competitive layer to normal play, but the same caution applies. Only stake what you planned to anyway, and never chase the leaderboard. See responsible gambling.
