iGaming Glossary / Tumble
What is Tumble?
Tumble is another name for cascading reels, where winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in for chain wins.
Tumble is just another word for cascading reels. When you land a winning combination, the symbols that paid disappear and new ones fall down to fill the gaps. If the fresh symbols form another win, the process repeats, so a single spin can pay several times in a row.
Providers use different names for the same idea, including avalanche, cascade and rolling reels. Whatever the label, the mechanic works the same way and is often paired with a rising multiplier that grows with each chain.
See the entry for cascading reels in our slots guide for the full explanation and examples of games that use it.
