iGaming Glossary / Multiplier
What is Multiplier?
A feature that multiplies a win or a whole spin, for example 3x.
A multiplier is a feature that boosts a win by a set figure, such as 2x, 3x or much higher. If you land a 10 win with a 3x multiplier, it becomes 30. Multipliers are one of the most common ways slots turn an ordinary spin into a much bigger payout.
They show up in many forms. Some are tied to wild symbols, some grow during free spins, and some climb with each win in a chain of tumbling reels. In bonus rounds the figures can reach very high levels, which is where the largest wins often come from.
Multipliers add excitement but do not change the long-term return on their own, since the game maths already accounts for them. They simply concentrate value into rarer, bigger hits. Live tables such as Lightning Games use multipliers too. See our slots guide.
