iGaming Glossary / eCOGRA
What is eCOGRA?
An independent testing body that audits game fairness, payouts and operator conduct.
eCOGRA is an independent testing and certification body for online gambling. It checks that a casino's random number generators are genuinely random, that the advertised return-to-player figures hold up, and that the operator handles players fairly. Sites that pass can display its seal.
Why it matters: an eCOGRA seal is a sign that a third party has looked under the hood, which adds trust beyond the casino's own promises. It covers both the fairness of the games and the conduct of the operator, including how disputes are handled.
The honest tip is to confirm the seal is current and links back to a real certificate, since logos can be copied. A seal is reassurance, not a guarantee of profit. The games are still built with a house edge.
