What is Scatter?
A symbol that pays or triggers a feature regardless of where it lands on the reels.
A scatter is a special slot symbol that works no matter where it appears. Unlike normal symbols, which must line up along a payline, scatters pay or trigger a feature just by landing on the reels in the right number, often anywhere on screen.
Their most common job is to start free spins or a bonus round. Land three or more and the feature kicks in, which is why seeing scatters drop builds anticipation. Some games also award a direct payout for scatters on top of any feature.
Because each game treats scatters a little differently, the paytable is the place to confirm how many you need and what they unlock. They are one of the most rewarding symbols to watch for during play.
